33. Pumpkin Seed Poinsettia Tutorial

Here’s a great little Christmas decoration to make with children.

Supplies needed: Raw or roasted pumpkin seeds, millet seeds, cereal box cardboard, red paint and small paintbrush, tacky glue, felt (optional), hanging string.

1. Cut a 1.5 – 2″ circle from cardboard.

2. Glue a row of pumpkin seeds, pointy side out, around the edge of the cardboard. Glue a second and third and possibly a fourth row of pumpkin seeds so that they overlap the preceeding row by about 1/2 the length of the seed. Let the glue dry.

3. Paint the pumpkin seeds red and let the paint dry.

4. Glue the millet seed into the centre.

5. Glue a loop of string to the back, sandwiched between a same-sized round cardboard or felt backing.

Quick and easy!

This is a copy of an idea I saw somewhere many years ago. Unfortunately, I cannot credit the source.

  1. What a clever idea! I’ll have to get another pumpkin. The squirrels have consumed all of my pumpkins and seeds.
